The Providence High School zone continues to be a desirable are for home buyers in Charlotte.  The high school and feeder schools are top ranking schools on various school ranking websites and have active PTOs.  Home values remain strong in the Providence High School zone.  In August the average sales price of homes for sale in the Providence High School zone was $451,576 (see graph) and the average price per sq foot was $141 per foot, that is up from last August's $131 per foot (see graph).

Just in -- popular school ranking website SchoolDigger.com released its rankings of NC Elementary schools and one of CMS's own ranked #4 of all NC schools. It won't be a surprise to many, to learn that Providence Spring Elementary (PSE) located in South Charlotte earned the top billing of all area schools.

New Schools and Renovations for CMS

The November 2017 election results included the passage of  $922 million bond referendum for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS).  As a result of the bond package, CMS will be able to build 17 new schools and provide renovations and improvements to 12 of the system's oldest schools.  It is estimated that the construction and renovations will relieve overcrowding at 20 schools while providing 1250 new or renovated classrooms. The impact will be felt across the system impacting more than 20,000 students.  Among the schools to be built include a high school in the Southern portion of the country to alleviate overcrowding at Ardrey Kell, South Mecklenburg and Olympic High Schools.  For a full...
